Mammootty And Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Padayaatra Wraps Its 40-day Shoot, Know About Its Cast, Crew, And Release Date

Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Padayaatra had a long and rigorous filming schedule. The much-anticipated film marks the reunion of Mammootty and director Adoor Gopalakrishnan after 32 years. The makers had shared a glimpse of the entire cast and crew back in January when they began shooting. After completing their 40-day schedule, the actor’s label, Mammootty Kampany, took to their official social media handle and shared a photo announcing the completion of the shoot. 

Fans and movie buffs are now anticipating the film’s release at least by the end of this year. Here are more details of the film.

On March 5, 2026, the makers of the Padayaatra shared a major update of the film on their X and Instagram handles. With a photo of the entire cast and crew, the caption of the post read, “#Padayaatra PACK UP !!!!!! #Mammootty #AdoorGopalakrishnan #MammoottyKampany #WayfarerFilms”. After closely analysing the picture, it is quite evident that Grace Antony and Indrans will be sharing the screen alongside the legendary actor Mammootty. 

In January, the makers announced the beginning of the shoot. The film is written by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and K. V. Mohankumar. Mammootty will be essaying the role of Dr Devadas, an urban practitioner who follows Gandhian principles. Reportedly, Indrans will be portraying the role of his assistant. Set against the backdrop of the 1970s and 80s, the movie might revolve around a period rich in socio-political transitions in Kerala. Moreover, it is expected to be rooted in realism, which is a signature storytelling style of Adoor’s films.

Padayaatra features Sreeshma Chandran, Alencier Ley Lopez, Madhupal, Nandhu, Zeenath, and Professor Aliya in key roles. The 74-year-old actor reunites with director Adoor Gopalakrishnan after three decades. The duo has previously worked on the release of 1987’s Anantaram, 1990’s Mathilukal, and 1994’s Vidheyan.
