Maa Behen X Reviews: Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, and Dharna Durga’s Dark Comedy Receives Mixed Reactions

Since the day Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, and Dharna Durga’s Netflix dark comedy, Maa Behen, was announced, fans and the global audience were eagerly waiting for June 4. Now that the drama has laid its digital footprints, it has been drawing both praise and criticism. In a nutshell, the film presents a twisted narrative in which a single mother and her two daughters become unwittingly involved in a murder mystery.

Maa Behen Twitter Reviews: Fans Share Mixed Reactions 

Rating Netflix’s Maa Behen 2.5 out of 5 stars, an X user stated, “Good intentions, good performances, bad screenplay. It felt like chewing bubble gum that lost its flavour an hour ago.” Another user shared, “The film is not bad when it’s being serious, but the constant efforts to be wild and wacky are a letdown.”  While some viewers appreciated Madhuri Dixit’s performance, others emphasised that the screenplay ultimately detracted from the overall experience.

Apart from the criticisms, a social media user praised the film’s sharp satire on societal discomfort linked with female autonomy, calling it an entertaining ride that captivates audiences without succumbing to pity. Moreover, a user called it a well-written movie. “I just finished #maabehen it was really a great well-written movie I enjoyed every single scene the great #madhuriDixit really surprised me of how well she can do every single scene. For the unversed, Maa Behen boasts a stellar female cast including Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, and digital creator-turned-debutant Dharna Durga, alongside Ravi Kishan and Geetanjali Kulkarni. Set against a middle-class housing society, the saga follows Rekha (Madhuri Dixit), a fiercely non-conforming widow who works at a wine shop and wears sleeveless blouses, much to the dismay of her judgmental neighbours. The chaos kicks off when Rekha accidentally finds her nosy, moral-policing neighbor, Gupta Ji (Ravi Kishan), in her kitchen.
