M.S. A Legacy On Screen: Rashmika Mandanna to Headline MS Subbulakshmi Biopic, Kamal Haasan Gives First Clap

Rashmika Mandanna is all geared up for her back-to-back releases. One of them is the MS Subbulakshmi biopic, which has been titled “M.S. A Legacy On Screen.” Yesterday, the makers shared an inside glimpse, marking the commencement of the shoot. Rashmika Mandanna was spotted interacting with the family of  MS Subbulakshmi Amma with great warmth. Sharing the clip, the team wrote, “A beautiful moment before the beginning of M.S. A Legacy On Screen. Team #MSBiopic meets the family of #MSSubbulakshmi Amma with love, respect, and heartfelt gratitude, thanking them for their unconditional support. The announcement of the biopic was made on the 110th birth anniversary of MS Subbulakshmi. She was the first musician to receive the Bharat Ratna and the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1974. 

The makers revealed the film’s title and first look at the launch event at the Music Academy in Chennai on Wednesday. Kamal Haasan was invited as a special guest at the launch. Speaking about Rashmika Mandanna as the lead actor, he told her the role would demand something beyond acting. “The tension an actor would have felt when acting in a Michael Jackson film, you will have that tension, I know. But there is a good team to help relieve that. They will support you,” he said. He then added, with characteristic self-deprecating humour, that the role was beyond even his own range. “I don’t envy you because I couldn’t have done this role, even if I removed my beard. I can’t. I can put on however many disguises I want, but like MS Amma, if you bring that compassion in your eyes, you have won half the battle. You have to do it bravely.” He also gave the first clap of the film. 

On the other hand, she also gave a heartfelt speech at the event. She felt proud to be associated with the project and expressed her gratitude for getting the chance to portray the legendary singer. Take a look! 

All in all, fans now await further updates surrounding the film. Meanwhile, they are counting down the days to the VIRUSH collaboration in “Ranabaali.”
