On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the veteran Tamil Actor K Bhagyaraj passed away at the age of 73. He breathed his last after suffering from a major cardiac arrest. Considered to be one of the legends of the Tamil film industry, he was survived by his wife Poornima Bhagayaraj, son Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, and daughter Saranya Bhagyaraj. All in all, the shocking news of his sad demise has plunged the entertainment industry into gloom.

Hailing from Vellakoil in the Tiruppur district, Bhagyaraj began his cinematic journey as an assistant director under V.V. Balaguru. Tamil Actor K Bhagyaraj acted in over 75 films. Besides, he also directed about 25 films. In a career spanning over five decades, Bhagyaraj gave numerous hits, and some of his celebrated directorial works include Andha 7 Naatkal, Mundhanai Mudichu, Chinna Veedu, and Enga Chinna Rasa.

His demise marks the end of an era in Tamil cinema, especially his exceptional storytelling and screenplay abilities. According to reports, the final funeral was scheduled to take place at 1:30 PM at the Besant Nagar crematorium in Chennai, where colleagues and fans will gather to pay their final respects.
