Legendary Hollywood Actor Tim Curry, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue Fame, Passes Away at 80

Tim Curry, renowned for playing the outlandish Frank-N-Furter in the film musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has passed away at the age of 80. His other notable roles came in Annie, The Three Musketeers, The Hunt for Red October, Clue, Addams Family Reunion, Congo, and Scary Movie 2.

According to a statement released by his longtime manager, Marcia Hurwitz, on Wednesday, Curry struggled with his health for more than a decade after a debilitating stroke and died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, California. Since the sad news of his demise came out, tributes began pouring in. 

His Broadway runs earned him three Tony Award nominations: his first for Best Actor in a Play for his role as Mozart in Amadeus (1980), followed by two nominations for Best Featured Actor in a Play for My Favorite Year (1992) and Spamalot (2005). 

As reported by Curry, he withdrew from a British stage production in 2011 due to ill health. A composer and a singer, Curry also performed with his own rock band and released a handful of albums. In 2013, his agent said that he had suffered a stroke but was recovering “in great humor”. From then on, he used a wheelchair and reduced his workload. In 2024, however, he returned to the big screen, appearing in the horror film Stream. He resided in Los Angeles, never married, and had no children.
