Dhanush’s Kara Trailer Revealed: What to Expect?

It is no news that Dhanush has a separate fan base altogether. In Kara, Dhanush’s character as a bank burglar is spotted pulling off a string of bank heists. Alongside, Suraj Venjaramoodu portrays the role of a police officer, assigned to hunt him down as the robberies intensify and spiral into chaos.

The trailer introduces us to the murky world of the film, which begins with the newsreel coverage of Iran bombing oil fields in Kuwait, which took place in the early 1990s. As the trailer unfolds, it shifts its focus to South Tamil Nadu, where we spot a cop played by Suraj Venjaramoodu investigating the heist of what appears to be a bank. Karasamy, the character played by Dhanush, is the one who carries the loot. Meanwhile, the police officer believes that the same criminal must be planning another bank heist.

As explained by the film’s director, Dhanush is essaying a morally ambiguous character. The trailer features a backdrop of remittances from West Asia drying up, with a shot of a character setting fire to his cotton crops. The film seems to begin at a time of intense financial difficulty.

Alongside the two fine actors, the film boasts a stellar cast including Mamitha Baiju, K.S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, M.S. Bhaskar, and Sreeja Ravi in key roles. For the unversed, after Por Thozhil, Kara is the second directorial venture of Vignesh Raja. Bankrolled by Vels Films International, the film is expected to arrive in cinemas on April 30, 2026.
