Kara OTT Release: When And Where to Watch Dhanush, Mamitha Baiju’s Action Thriller

Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju starrer Kara has completed its theatrical run and is now heading to an OTT platform for its digital debut. Released on April 30, 2026, in theatres, the heist action-thriller grossed approximately Rs 52 crore at the worldwide box office. Almost a month later, it will be available to watch online on Netflix starting from May 28, 2026. 

The Tamil-language actioner is set in the early 1990s. Helmed by Vignesh Raja, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Premalu fame Mamitha Baiju, K.S. Ravikumar, Karunaas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, M.S. Bhaskar, and Sreeja Ravi in key roles.

Kara performed modestly at the box office. Though it received mixed responses from fans and critics, it struggled to convert the traction offline. According to the 123Telugu report, the movie is expected to begin streaming on Netflix from May 28, 2026, although the makers have not officially confirmed the premiere date yet.

The film chronicles the journey of Kara’s (Dhanush), who attempts to leave crime behind before circumstances pull him back into the underworld. However, financial pressure and family debt become the focal point as a determined police officer closes in. The official synopsis describes the story as one where a thief attempts to reform but is forced back into crime after exploitative banks trap his father in debt.
