The excitement among fans has been palpable since Saturday, after Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth’s captivating promo of their upcoming film was unveiled. Tentatively titled #KHXRK, the film marks the reunion of the legendary Tamil cinema icons after 47 years.

It’s important to note that the upcoming film is produced by Inban Udhayanidhi, the 21-year-old grandson of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the son of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. The film will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who is known for his innovative storytelling and unique cinematic style. This collaboration is expected to attract considerable attention not only because of the star power of actors Haasan and Rajinikanth but also due to the creative vision of the director.

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Film

During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the two icons shared the screen more than a dozen times. After 47 years, it is indeed a treat to watch two legends in one frame. Currently titled as #KHXRK, the movie is backed by Red Giant Movies. The 3-minute-47-second promotional video released by the makers garnered attention worldwide. It kicks off with Nelson wondering which room he should enter first. Once the musician Anirudh Ravichander appears, he casually directs him on how to make a wiser decision. As the promo unfolds, Nelson heads towards Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth’s rooms, who seem confused about their outfits. Eventually, after making the decision of which shoe to wear with which jacket, the icons reveal their ensemble.

On the melodies of Aaja Raja, playing in the background, the duo leave their rooms and bump into each other in the corridor. As they tread to the rustic garage, where Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth make everyone’s heads turn around. Without being interrupted by the glares and stares, they sit in a car. In typical Rajinikanth style, the actor hands over the keys to his counterpart. At the end, Nelson and Anirudh pose a very important question: “Who is the hero?” It seems that fans will have to wait to get an answer.

Nonetheless, the reunion of KH and RK is long-awaited. The film is set for release in the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. Further casting and production details are expected to be announced in the upcoming months.
