Jurassic Park Fame Sam Neill Passes Away at 78, Months After Being Cancer-Free

New Zealand-born actor Sam Neill, renowned for his role in Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders, and The Piano, passed away at 78 after becoming cancer-free. His sudden demise sparked a wave of shock online and across the entertainment industry worldwide. According to an official statement shared by his family on social media, the actor breathed his last on Monday in Sydney. 

For the unversed, Neill battled courageously with a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer, but in April he revealed becoming cancer-free. He was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The statement shared by his family members on social media read, “It is with immense sadness that the whānau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July, in Sydney Australia. Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life.” 

Talking about his cancer diagnosis and the support his healthcare offered, the statement further read, “The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free. They would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care.” In this tough time, the family also requested fans and followers to respect their privacy as they strive to navigate the immeasurable loss. All in all, Sam Neill’s absence will be deeply felt for years to come.
