John Nolan, Batman, Person of Interest, and Dunkirk Fame Passes Away at 87

Batman Begins, Person of Interest, and Dunkirk actor John Nolan passed away on April 11, 2026. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Herald first confirmed his death, the local newspaper of the town. The Veteran actor was popular for his work across theatre, television, and film. The cause of his death is yet to be revealed. He was survived by his wife, actor Kim Hartman, and their children Miranda and Tom, as well as his grandchildren Dylan and Kara.

The actor was popular for his roles in 2005’s Batman Begins, 2011’s Person of Interest, 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, 2017’s Dunkirk, and many more. His television credits include the 1970s and 1980s shows like The Prisoner, The Sweeney, and Silent Witness, the 1973 miniseries Shabby Tiger, in which he played Nick Faunt. John Nolan Breathed His Last at 87

John Nolan, was the uncle of filmmakers Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan. The unexpected death of John Nolan caused shockwaves throughout the film industry, with tributes flooding in on social media. In a statement, Christopher Nolan reflected on his uncle’s influence: “My uncle John was the first artist I knew, and he taught me more than anyone about the search for truth in acting and the joys of creative achievement. I miss him terribly, but take great comfort in my memories of John, particularly those of working together.“

In 1967, Nolan kick-started his career in a bit part in Patrick McGoohan’s classic British spy series The Prisoner. His breakthrough role came in 1970 as the title character in the BBC miniseries drama Daniel Deronda, which was followed by a recurring role in the BBC’s sci-fi drama Doomwatch, where he appeared in 10 episodes from 1970 to 1971. On TV, the prolific actor starred in the recurring role of former MI6 Agent John Greer in Jonathan Nolan’s CBS cyberthriller series Person of Interest, appearing in 28 episodes in Seasons 2 through 5 from 2013 to 2016. Throughout his six decade career, he appeared in more than 30 movies and TV series throughout his acting career.

On Saturday, April 11, the actor left for his heavenly abode, and his absence will be deeply felt by family, friends, and fans worldwide.
