Matthew Perry’s sudden death sparked a wave of shock across the film fraternity. The Friends actor passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. After the investigation, it was revealed that the actor breathed his last due to a drug overdose. Nearly three years later, Jasveen Sangha, also known as the “Ketamine Queen,” was sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with Matthew Perry’s sad demise. She supplied the fatal dose of the drug to the actor.

Here’s the back story.

Jasveen Sangha, aka the ‘Ketamine Queen’ Jailed for 15 Years in Matthew Perry’s Death

Matthew Perry, the renowned star from the TV show Friends, died from the acute effects of ketamine in 2023. He was addicted to it during infusions at a clinic meant to help him with issues of anxiety and depression.

The woman, Jasveen Sangha, who supplied drugs to the actor, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after nearly 3 years. District Judge Sherilyn Garnett agreed with the prison term recommended by federal prosecutors and handed down a 15-year sentence. Initially, Jasveen Sangha denied the charges but agreed to change her plea in a signed statement last year.

Just a few weeks before, she had been due to stand trial. The 42-year-old Sangha stated, “I take full responsibility for my actions. These were horrible choices that ultimately proved tragic.” Sangha pleaded guilty in September to five felony drug counts linked to the 54-year-old Perry’s death. Her defence lawyers had asked for a sentence limited to the time already served.

According to Al Jazeera, in 2024, Sangha was arrested and has been in custody for nearly a year and eight months. She continued to sell ketamine after Perry’s death, which showed a lack of remorse in her opinion. In a victim impact statement submitted ahead of the sentencing hearing, Matthew Perry’s stepmother, Debbie, described Sangha as “heartless”.
