I’m Game Locks New Release Date: Dulquer Salmaan’s Thriller to Hit Theatres in September

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming action thriller has been pushed to Sept. 3. Originally slated to hit the theatres on the special occasion of Onam on Aug. 20, the film now aims for a clearer box office window. Taking to social media feeds, the makers of the film announced the new release date. The official statement read, “This decision has been made to give I’m Game the scale, reach, and theatrical platform it truly deserves, allowing audiences across different markets to experience it on the big screen. The wait gets a little longer, but the game gets bigger!”

“I’m Game” chronicles the journey of Dan John, who lives life on the edge with his carefree attitude and knack for making easy money. Instead of relying on luck, Dan places his bets using an algorithm. However, his fortunes begin to change when the system starts working against him, causing everything around him to spiral out of control. 

On Thursday afternoon, the lead actor took to his social media handle to share an official statement surrounding the postponement of the film. Reportedly, the reason behind the postponement is a production delay. Through the post, he said, “The game gets bigger. The release gets wider. We understand the anticipation and we apologize for the delay, but #IMGAME will now release worldwide on 3rd September, moving from its earlier release date of 20th August. The new release date comes with a larger vision for the film as #IMGAME gears up for a wider theatrical release across markets.”

Recently, the Malayalam actor travelled for the 17th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). Talking about the film at IFFM 2026, Dulquer Salmaan shared, “If you have seen the glimpses from my upcoming Telugu films and this one, they all kind of stand out. That is what I really enjoy as an actor. Dan John is going to surprise you because it’s been a while since I played someone so bratty.” I’M Game will release on Sept. 3 in multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
