It is no news that Evil Dead Burn has brought a box office storm in India and overseas. Though the sequel of Evil Dead didn’t match the numbers of its prequel, it hasn’t run out of steam yet. Talking about the U.S. Box Office, the horror drama debuted with $13.7 million. Whereas in India, the film is heading to close this week around the Rs. 25 crore mark.
Helmed by Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. The film is headlined by Souheila Yacoub (as Alice), Hunter Doohan (as Joseph), and Luciane Buchanan (as Thya). Here’s a closer look at the film’s box office collection so far.
On its first Monday at the Indian box office, Evil Dead Burn collected Rs. 2.50 crore. Usually, Hollywood movies’ earnings drop by 40 to 50 per cent on Mondays but the film remained among the cinema lover’s top choices.
Through previews, the film raked in Rs 65 lakhs, whereas on the first day of its release, it collected Rs. 3.30 crore. On the following day, it added Rs 5.40 crore while on third day it earned Rs 6 crore. As reported by Sacnilk, on day 5 at 10.30 PM IST, Evil Dead Burn has collected a net of Rs 2.06 crore by running across 3,544 shows. This brings total gross collections to Rs 19.90 crore and Rs 16.81 crore net in India.
Talking about overseas market, the film debuted in 3,004 theaters across North America and scared up $13.7 million in its domestic debut, about $10 million less than Evil Dead Rise‘s $24.5 million opening. Worldwide, Evil Dead Burn debuted with $25 million. Given the film’s production budget was somewhere in the ballpark of $20 million. Considering the numbers and online buzz, the film may hit major milestones anytime soon.
