Just when the buzz surrounding Ranbir Kapoor’s “Ramayana” was fading away, the makers unveiled another character poster featuring Veteran Actor Arun Govil. Renowned for portraying Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, he is all geared up for his comeback to the epic as King Dashrath in Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part saga. The actor will portray the role of Lord Ram’s father.

Arun Govil’s Ramayana Look Unveiled
On Wednesday, the makers of “Ramayana” took to their social media handles to unveil the character poster of Arun Govil as King Dashrath. The caption of the post read, “He once brought Ram to life for a generation. Now, he returns to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dashrath.” The actor, Arun Govil, remains deeply associated with his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram and will now be seen essaying the role of Ram’s father and the King of Ayodhya.
The newly dropped poster showcases Govil in the majestic look of King Dashrath, reflecting the stature and authority of the ruler of Ayodhya. His transition from portraying Lord Ram to playing his father undoubtedly adds an emotional resonance to the film. The 68-year-old in a regal look has also got the audience talking.
The actor rose to fame through Ramanand Sagar’s television series “Ramayan,” which aired from 1987 to 1988. His casting as King Dashrath in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana” marks his major comeback to the iconic story, shifting from the role of Ram to the patriarch of Ayodhya. For the unversed, the film is a two-part epic. Part 1 is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Nov. 5, 2026, followed by Part 2 during Diwali 2027. It will release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, across India.
