Sai Pallavi, Junaid Khan’s Ek Din hit theatres on May 1. The romance drama has been struggling to draw movie fanatics since the first day of its release. Amidst the buzz of Ritesh Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji, the film managed to mint over Rs 1 crore on day 1. According to the trade website Sacnilk, the film received a lukewarm response from the audience and critics.

Bankrolled by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan, and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film is helmed by Sunil Pandey. For the unversed, Ek Din marks the Bollywood debut of the South Indian actress Sai Pallavi, while it is Junaid  Khan’s second theatrical release after Loveyappa.

Ek Din Box Office Collection Day 1: A Closer Look at the Numbers

Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi’s Ek Din has a very slow start at the box office. According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is currently running across 645 shows. As of Day 2, 3 pm, it has collected a net of Rs 14 crore. This brings the total India gross collections to Rs 1.54 crore and the total India net to Rs 1.29 crore so far. Moreover, the overall occupancy rate was 14 percent, which shows that theatres were mostly empty.

Movie buffs had their hopes high, but the film struggled hard to work its magic at the box office on the opening day. Eagle-eyed fans and audience are now waiting for the weekend to roll over so that the film may gain a little momentum amidst the Raja Shivaji buzz.

For the context, Ek Din is a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day. The film was originally scheduled to be released in November 2025, but was pushed to May 2026. Many believe this delay and poor promotions affected the film’s opening.
