Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story First Look OUT: Rajkummar Rao Recreates His Iconic Shirtless Moment at Lord’s

Today marks Sourav Ganguly’s 54th birthday. On this special occasion, the makers of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story unveiled the film’s first look, featuring Rajkummar Rao. Alongside the striking first glimpse, the makers also revealed the biopic’s theatrical release date, May 14, 2027. Undoubtedly, the sneak peek sparked significant buzz online. It showcased Rao recreating Ganguly’s iconic shirtless moment during a jubilant celebration after India’s win in the 2002 NatWest Series final at Lord’s in England. 

Bollywood actor took to his Instagram handle to share the first look of his film. He captioned the post, writing, “Happy Birthday, our dearest Dada.” The legendary former Indian cricket captain also shared the post, wishing Rajkummar good luck. He wrote, “The best gift ever! Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive!”

The striking poster of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story has left fans and cricket enthusiasts ecstatic. The unexpected reveal turned out to be the ultimate return gift for the audience. Helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film is produced by filmmakers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg of Luv Films. Starring Rajkummar Rao in the titular role, the film will be hitting theatres on May 14, 2027.

For the unversed, the first look reveal happened days after netizens witnessed Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of Ujjwal Nikam in Prahaar. It is indeed praiseworthy as the actor has essayed two real-life-inspired characters in such a short span of time. Dada also marks his seventh biographical film in his diversified career. 

Sourav Ganguly’s biographical film celebrates the life of the man who transformed Indian cricket with his fearless leadership. All in all, it is safe to say that Rajkummar Rao has continued to create a benchmark in the entertainment industry through his transformative performances.
