Daayra New Posters OUT: Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran Turn Cops in Meghna Gulzar’s Crime Drama

Kareena Kapoor Khan is all geared up for her upcoming film “Daayra” opposite Prithviraj Sukumaran. Set to hit theatres on Sept. 18, 2026, the trailer of Meghna Gulzar’s Crime Drama is expected to be unveiled on Aug.31. Adding to the buzz, the makers released the posters of both the leads, who will be portraying the characters of DCPs. The newly dropped character posters offer an intriguing and striking first glimpse at their respective characters, DCP Ajooni Kohli and DCP Raman Kumar. Take a closer look!

The two character posters establish varied personalities while hinting at the intense tension and investigation-rooted drama. Kareena as Ajooni is seen as a commanding police officer with an intense, no-nonsense presence. Her fierce intensity and authority add emotional depth and gritty realism. She is spotted standing against the backdrop of moving trucks, adding a sense of urgency and movement to the visual. Police tape running across the Daayra logo further reinforces the crime-investigation setting.

Talking about her characters, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared, “At its heart, Daayra is a reality of the world we live in, but what I love about this film is that Meghna never tells us what to think. She takes us into the grey… into two people who challenge each other, reflect each other and constantly shift the way we see the story.”

On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar holds a calculated and calm posture and looks fearlessly fierce with a restrained expression. His character is expected to be defined by psychological complexity and emotional turmoil, bringing another layer of intensity to the drama. The actor is standing amid a vast grass field during what appears to be a press interaction. 

All in all, helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the drama is inspired by a set of true events. “Daayra” is penned by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal, and Meghna Gulzar, and indeed has kept fans and cinephiles hooked until the trailer unfolds and the film draws the curtains in September.
