Bhooth Bangla Release Postponed: Akshay Kumar’s Horror Comedy Locks New Release Date Yet Again

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has been breaking records and hitting new milestones right from the day of its much-anticipated release. What has been impacted is the release of other films in the pipeline, including Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla. Just to refresh your memory, the horror comedy was originally scheduled to hit the silver screens on May 15. In February, the makers preponed its release by a month, announcing April 10 as the release date. After analyzing the box office scenario and the dominance of Dhurandhar’s sequel, the makers have decided to push the release by a week. Bhooth Bangla will now arrive in theatres on April 17, 2026, with paid previews slated to release on April 16, at 9 pm.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror drama boasts a stellar starcast, including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar in key roles, alongside Akshay Kumar as the lead.

Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla Locks New Release Date: Postponed by a Week

Bankrolled by Akshay Kumar along with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, Bhooth Bangla was initially locking horns with Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, Telugu-language Swayambhu starring Nikhil Siddhartha and Nabha Natesh, and Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar’s Pallichattambi. In a nutshell, the makers have prompted stakeholders to avoid a direct clash with these films and allow every title to perform without any clash or overlap. 

With several blockbusters, including Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, under his credit, director Priyadarshan prefers a clearer box office window for the upcoming horror-comedy drama. 

On April 2, Ekta Kapoor took to her social media handles to announce the news of the film’s postponement. The statement read, “After a collective call with our distributors and the exhibitors, we have decided on a new release date for Bhooth Bangla. April 16, with the first show starting at 9 PM. Dhurandhar: The Revenge performing exceptionally well is heartening news for our film industry, and exhibitors feel that this shift will allow both films the space, focus, and attention they deserve.”
