Batwara 1947 Gets Clearance from CBFC, Aamir Khan’s Partition Drama Ready to Release in August With No Cuts

Aamir Khan Productions’ Batwara 1947 is all set to hit the silver screens on Aug.14 2026. The partition drama starring Sunny Deol in the lead role gets clearance from CBFC without any cuts. It is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year. Ever since its announcement, followed by the release of its striking first poster and impactful teaser, the film has generated immense excitement among audiences.

Helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 promises to tell a deeply emotional story of love, sacrifice, and resilience. According to sources, the film has received a clearance certificate from CBFC without any cuts. 

Based on a Mohajir family that crosses over to Lahore, it is centered on Hindu elderly woman who refuses to leave the house and the issues that arise between the Mohajir family and her. Alongside Sunny Deol, the film also boasts a stellar cast including Shabana Azmi, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.

The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. Bankrolled by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Batwara 1947 features music composed by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. It is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on, Partition Day, August 14, 2026.
