Huma Qureshi’s Baby Do Die Do has opened slowly at the box office. Despite the lukewarm response at the ticket window, the film has garnered strong views and positive responses from critics and fans. On the first day of its release, the thriller collected a net of Rs 40 lakhs. By running across 778 shows, it achieved an occupancy rate of 13 percent.
Alongside Huma Qureshi, the thriller mystery also stars Sikandar Kher and Chunky Pandey in the pivotal roles. The film locked horns with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha. Though Alpha generated more revenue at the box office, Baby Do Die Do has impressed the audience.
Despite the lack of pre-release buzz, Baby Do Die Do has been striving hard to rake in more revenue at the box office. On day 1, it minted Rs 40 lakhs in India, bringing its total worldwide collection to Rs 48 lakhs. Reportedly, it registered an average occupancy of just 5 percent in the morning shows. Talking about the afternoon shows, the film observed 12 percent occupancy. In the evening shows, it jumped slightly, reaching 13 percent, while at night shows, it sealed the deal at 20 percent.
With negligible promotional buzz, reviewers praised the film’s Mumbai backdrop, creative visuals, and Huma Qureshi’s expressive lead performance. Now all eyes are on the film’s weekend collection, which is expected to escalate considering strong word-of-mouth and positive feedback from fellow viewers.
Cinemaexpress states, “Baby Do Die Do is also a rare instance where the use of the city as a character feels truly earned and rewarding. Mumbai is visible on screen in fascinating ways — you can see the overwhelming skylines, and you can hear the winds. But It’s not merely about the dystopian high-rises, the crowded trains or the grey skies — the city is a part of these characters’ lives and history too, actively shaping their choices. It breathes here even in stories that are merely present as subtext.”
