The third installment of James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash, minted in $1.5 billion at the box office since its release in December 2025. The sci-fi sequel will launch its digital platforms on March 31 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD on May 19. What’s special is the fact that fans can now enjoy the much-loved drama with over three hours of runtime, thanks to the never-before-seen extras, featuring the filming process.

For the context, the VFX-heavy Avatar films have been mounted on big budgets, and it is no news that the makers have historically raked in billions of dollars at the box office. Starting in 2009, Avatar 1 cemented its position as the highest-grossing movie of all time, earning a staggering $2.9 billion across several theatrical runs. On the other hand, 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water has collected $2.3 billion, standing tall as the third-highest-grossing film of all time. The third part is hailed as the longest installment in the Avatar series so far.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Digital Release

After months of waiting, Avatar: Fire and Ash finally arrives digitally. Before its official OTT release, the movie will be available as a Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) title. Starting March 31, 2026, the audience can rent or purchase the film on platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. This pay-per-view model allows audiences early access to the film ahead of its OTT premiere.

The third installment kicks off right after the events of The Way of Water and finds the Sully family reeling after the death of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldaña) eldest son Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), as series villain Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) renews his efforts to find and capture Jake. For the 2025 chapter, Oona Chaplin joined the franchise as a Na’vi villain named Varang, who teams up with Quaritch.
