Netflix series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, was one of 2025’s OTT blockbusters, marking the directorial debut of Aryan Khan. On Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, Shah Rakh Khan’s son bagged the ‘Best Debut Director’ award at the NDTV Indian of the Year event held in New Delhi. It was indeed a moment of pride as it was his first recognition as a director.
While accepting the honour, Aryan admitted that he loves accepting awards just like his father. But he dedicated the milestone to his doting mother, Gauri Khan. Additionally, he acknowledged the support of his collaborators and co-workers. Take a closer look at what the debutant director said in his acceptance speech!
The star kid has had his share of ups and downs; however, the Bads of Bollywood turned out to be the turning point of his life. After receiving the award, the highlight was his acceptance speech, where he expressed his love for awards, just like his father, SRK. He began his speech with kind words and offered gratitude to his cast and crew for working tirelessly and with great enthusiasm. Secondly, he thanked Netflix for trusting a first-time director like him.
Further, Aryan dedicated his victory not to his father but mother. He stated, “Congratulations to all the winners tonight. This is my first award. And I hope I will get many more awards. Because, like my dad, I also like awards a lot. But this award is not for him. This award is for my mom because my mom always tells me to sleep early, not to make fun of people, and not to make fun of people. And today, for all these things, NDTV has given me this award. I know, I will get less scolding at home today.” Scroll down to see how mother, Gauri, reacted to her son’s speech.
