Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s much-anticipated spy thriller Alpha has finally hit the theatres today. After piquing the interest of fans and cinephiles with its teasers and trailers, social media platforms including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) are buzzing with first reactions and honest reviews. The seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe has marked the franchise’s first female-led chapter. Surprisingly, the film opened to polarising reviews on its first day.

Helmed by Shiv Rawail, the film also features Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Hrithik Roshan in a cameo role. While some moviegoers praised the film’s action and performances, others compared it to Dhurandhar and War, calling it the worst film of the franchise. Here’s a closer glimpse at what the audience has to say about Alpha.

Alpha Twitter Reviews: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Spy Thriller

Alpha released in theatres on July 3, 2026. Surprisingly, despite generating significant buzz online, the film received a lukewarm response. For the unversed, the adrenaline-pumping actioner is based on an original story by Uday Chopra and scripted by Soumil Shukla, Shridhar Raghavan, and Ishita Moitra. In a nutshell, the thriller explores a raw and fiercely emotional story. If you are about to watch Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in action, then consider reading these first-day, first-show reviews of viewers on X.

A user who watched the film on the first day took to her timeline to share two cents about the film, writing, “Hrithik Roshan’s cameo is the only moment that truly brings excitement and relief to the film. Apart from that, the movie feels average and never really reaches its full potential. The story, pacing, and overall impact are just okay.” Another user opined, “The film briefly comes alive whenever Alia and Sharvari share the frame. Perhaps that’s because women facing each other in a full blooded action film is still uncommon in commercial cinema.”

A movie buff shared, “It is neither that bad nor that awesome, it looks good as per my expectations. Bobby Deol dominated the screen as always for as long as he appeared.” Applauding the lead actor’s performances and storytelling format, a netizen stated, ““#Alpha is a powerful surprise! Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol deliver outstanding performances. The story is fresh, emotional, and different from typical spy films, with an intense vibe like #Dhurandhar2. A gripping entertainer that keeps you hooked throughout.” One social media user rated the film 2.5/5, writing, “A decent watch. It genuinely tries to be a little different, but eventually falls back into the same YRF Spy Universe template, so you kind of know what to expect. Alia and Sharvari were both really good & carried the film well.

Other user opined, “Hrithik Roshan’s cameo is the only moment that truly brings excitement and relief to the film. Apart from that, the movie feels average and never really reaches its full potential. The story, pacing, and overall impact are just okay.”
