Aamir Khan’s iconic, Oscar-nominated film Lagaan is being re-released in theaters for a limited time to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the sports drama is scheduled to screen in cinema halls on June 12, 13, and 14. The blockbuster 2001 drama has lately dropped a newly launched, nostalgic trailer, leaving fans ecstatic. 

Set against the backdrop of colonial India, the saga chronicles a high-stakes cricket match between a group of untrained villagers and their British rulers. The iconic film was nominated in the Best Foreign Language category at the 74th Academy Awards. Moreover, it won eight awards, including the Best Popular Film award at the 49th National Film Awards. Aamir Khan’s Lagaan to Hit Theatres Once Again

On Wednesday, Aamir Khan Productions took to their social media timelines to announce the comeback of the iconic 2001 film Lagaan. The caption read, “A timeless epic that touched every heart. On the 25th Anniversary of ‘LAGAAN’ the epic saga returns to the big screen. Relive the magic in theatres on 12th, 13th, and 14th June.” 

Alongside Aamir Khan in the lead actor, the film also boasts a stellar cast including Gracy Singh, British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne, Suhasini Mulay, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Rajendra Gupta, and others.

Besides the phenomenal performances of the actors, the film features music composed by A.R. Rahman that ruled the charts since its release. Even after years, songs such as Ghanan Ghanan, Mitwa, Radha Kaise Na Jale, and O Rey Chhori still resonate with fans and movie enthusiasts. All in all, the audience is all geared up to witness the magic of Lagaan on the 70mm screen.
