Sanjay Dutt’s political drama Aakhri Sawaal has finally hit the theatres on May 15. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the drama revolves around a professor accused by his student of bias after he rejects the student’s RSS thesis. On the first day of its release, the film gained positive feedback. However, it opened low at the box office, raking in over Rs 40 lakhs. 

Starring Sanjay Dutt, Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh, and Sameera Reddy in key roles, all eyes are on the weekend box office collection. As of day 2, the film collected Rs 53 lakhs.

The much-anticipated political drama earned Rs 48 lakh at the box office on its first day, with 2,035 shows across India. Talking about its overseas collection, the film earned Rs 15 lakh, taking its worldwide collection to Rs 63 lakh. With an overall Hindi occupancy of 8 per cent on Friday, the film aims to captivate a wider audience through positive word-of-mouth. 

Aakhri Sawaal is presented by Nikhil Nanda, and bankrolled by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, with Puneet Nanda, Dr Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand serving as co-producers. For the unversed, it is released in four regional languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Not just that, the movie has also locked horns with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do at the box office, which collected Rs 4 crore.
