3 Re-release: Dhanush and Shruti Haasan’s Romantic Musical Thriller to Hit Theatres Once Again on Feb 6

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and the film fraternity is leaving no stone unturned to help you reminisce about the good old times, featuring the most iconic romances on the silver screen. Following the announcement of Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s ‘Love Story’ re-release, Dhanush and Shruti Haasan’s romantic musical psychological thriller ‘3’ is all geared up to hit the theatres once again. Slated for re-release on February 6, the audience gets to witness not only Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth’s directorial debut but also relive 2012’s Why This Kolaveri Di magic. 

The romance thriller was released over a decade ago, on 30 March 2012. Now, it is back with a bang to help you celebrate the special moments of Valentine’s Day.

On January 23, 2026, Sony Music South India took to their social media handles to share the announcement of 3’s re-release. The official trailer will be dropped today, on January 24, at 5.4 pm. The music label captioned the post saying, “Brace yourself for the Re-release of 3 The Movie worldwide on Feb 6th.” 

Starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, the thriller follows the tale of high school sweethearts Ram and Janani. However, their perfect love story turns tragic when Ram ends his own life. As a result, a heartbroken Janani tries to find out why he committed suicide. She dives deeper into the internal struggles her husband endured due to bipolar disorder and revisits their journey of togetherness, right from falling in love as high school sweethearts to building a life.

Directed and penned by Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, the movie performed well at the Tamil box office. Alongside Dhanush and Shruti Haasan, the thriller also stars Prabhu, Sivakarthikeyan, Sunder Ramu, Bhanupriya, Jeeva Ravi, Rohini, Gabriella Charlton, Sunita Gogoi, Sumathi Sree, Badava Gopi, and more. With Dhanush’s 3, fans can also watch 2021’s Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Love Story’ in the theatre, scheduled for re-release on February 14, 2026.
