A student of IIT Hyderabad landed a Rs. 2.5 crore package. He is the last year student majoring in computer science engineering. During the placement season in 2025, he secured this amazing job offer, which is the largest single package ever recorded by the institution since the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), was founded in 2008.
Edward Nathan Varghese, 21, accepted the offer and will start working as a software engineer in July for Optiver, a rival of the high-frequency trading business Jane Street, as per the media sources. The appointment came after a two-month summer internship was turned into a pre-placement offer (PPO). A company with headquarters in the Netherlands.
Varghese was born and raised in Hyderabad before finishing his education in Bangalore between Class 7 and Class 12.
Two weeks of training were followed by a six week assignment during the summer internship at Optiver. From now on, Varghese will be employed full time at the company’s Netherlands office.
In addition to him, another computer science student from IIT Hyderabad received a Rs. 1.1 crore offer this year, which helped the institute set a higher standard for placements. The top package at IITH, recorded in 2017, was approximately Rs. 1 crore rupees.
