Nagpur: The police have arrested a security guard for allegedly attempting to commit theft at the bungalow of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s personal assistant, Kaustubh Phaltankar, in the city.
The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Ratan Kartik Kasture.
The incident took place on Monday night, as per the complaint lodged by Kaustubh Phaltankar. Gadkari’s PA’s wife runs a lawyer’s office on the ground floor of the bungalow. At about 10:55 pm, Kasture, who was recently appointed as a security guard at the PA’s bungalow, allegedly tried to open a drawer in the office run by Phaltankar’s wife, intending to steal.
When a worker at the residence noticed suspicious activity, he alerted Phaltankar, who immediately locked the office and called the police.
The Beltarodi police station has registered a case under BNS Section 305(2) (theft in dwelling houses). Further investigation is underway.
