Haryana’s senior IPS officer, Y. Puran Kumar, tragically took his own life on Tuesday at his residence in Chandigarh, leaving behind a nine-page suicide note. The note, reportedly shared with a few close IPS colleagues and his wife, named multiple IAS and IPS officers, accusing them of mental harassment.
According to reports, Kumar’s suicide note alleges repeated harassment, administrative bias, and discrimination. He specifically mentioned a DGP-rank officer for issuing unnecessary notices and named 7–8 IPS officers and 2 IAS officers for alleged interference in postings, biased official reviews (ACRs), and other administrative pressures.
The note also states that Kumar’s assets would be transferred to his wife and details his mental distress arising from caste-based discrimination, denial of government accommodation, irregularities in his performance reports, and continuous administrative pressure and litigation.
Police have documented the scene through videography and photography, and a forensic team has collected several important pieces of evidence. Authorities are currently examining the note to verify its content and understand the allegations. Family members are also being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials have not yet commented on the details or authenticity of the names mentioned, but the development has drawn significant attention within bureaucratic and law enforcement circles.
