The operation, conducted in Northwest Delhi at around 2:20 AM, targeted the notorious Sigma Gang, which was allegedly involved in planning a major conspiracy ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The encounter began when police attempted to intercept the gang members, who opened fire in an attempt to escape. A gunfight ensued, during which all four gangsters sustained critical injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Who Were the Gangsters?

Ranjan Pathak, the leader of the gang, had a reward of ₹25,000 on his arrest. He was wanted in eight criminal cases, including five high-profile murders in Sitamarhi and surrounding districts of Bihar. The other gang members—Bimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur—were also involved in numerous violent and organized criminal activities, including murder and extortion.

Over the years, the Sigma Gang has established a widespread network across Bihar and has been involved in killings, extortion, and other organized crimes. Delhi Police confirmed that the operation successfully neutralized all four gang members, preventing potential threats linked to the upcoming elections.
