TCS to Hire 80 Percent of Workforce with Digital, AI Skills; AI Work to Expand Profitability
80 percent of TCS’s new hires will be people with digital and artificial intelligence (AI) talents in the future, according to a senior company official as reported by PTI.
The biggest IT services company in the nation announced that an increase in the proportion of AI revenue would allow it to boost its profit margins, which are still lower than its target levels, as AI led work’s share of overall revenue reached 10 percent in the September quarter that recently ended.
“Around 25 to 30 percent of the 4,500 people we added in Q2 are purely AI and a total of around 80 percent are new age,” the company’s chief operating officer, Arathi Subramanian, said to PTI. “If a mid level engineer is willing to learn, it gives a huge advantage because he or she understands what is the technology landscape, what is the domain,” he said further emphasizing that a junior engineer might not comprehend the same.
Others areas of investment would be mergers and acquisitions and alliances, he said, adding that the company would continue to invest in niche talent.
