Maruti Suzuki Launches S-CNG Range, Sets Green Vehicle Sales Goal for FY27
With the structural tailwinds of increasing crude prices and the introduction of automatic transmission in CNG models, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) aims to sell one million green vehicles (CNG, hybrid and EV) this fiscal year.
Automatic S-CNG variants of its well-known car models, Swift, Dzire and Baleno, were introduced on Friday by the car market leader as part of its Auto Green Mission, reports PTI.
MSIL stated that its Dzire automatic S-CNG was the most fuel efficient sedan in India, achieving 36.47 km/kg. The Baleno automatic S-CNG is priced at Rs. 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom), the Swift automatic S-CNG at Rs. 7.92 lakh and the Dzire automatic S-CNG at Rs. 8.53 lakh.
MSIL, which dominates the CNG market with a 70 percent share, had previously projected 8 to 9 lakh green vehicle sales this fiscal year. But, according to Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, the prediction was increased with the release of fresh automatic transmission variants. Because they lacked automated transmission options, CNG models previously lost out to petrol/automatic pairings, he pointed out.
