Indian Auto Wholesales Experience Significant Growth in March: PV and Tractor Segments Lead the Charge
In March, the market for wholesale automobiles experienced tremendous expansion. The Indian auto wholesale market saw a notable increase in March, primarily due to the tractor and passenger car industries.
Monthly wholesale volume prints for March 2026 were favorable, with outstanding results for tractors and passenger cars (PV). The market for commercial vehicles (CVs) and two wheelers (2Ws) saw steady expansion, reported by ANI.
According to an ICICI Direct Research report, “OEM wholesale sales volume for March 2026 came in healthy with PV & Tractors segments outperforming peers.” Additionally, it said that “FY26 ends on a high note with healthy growth across all vehicle categories making a new high in terms of total vehicles dispatched in a fiscal year,” which is about a 10% increase year over year (YoY), ANI reports further.
Following the GST 2.0 reform, demand in the PV market continued to be strong as it followed positive momentum. The report stated that Maruti Suzuki had a volume increase of 17% year over year at 2.2 lakh units, while Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) increased by 25% at 60,000 units.
