A post is going viral where a man from Gurugram reveals his house help’s monthly income and her financial management. The post has sparked intense online debate about financial discipline after revealing his house help balances a monthly income of Rs. 60,000 to manage rent, private schooling and long-term land investments.
Shiva Mittal has shared a detailed post, saying her management is a reality check for many. He says, “My maid in Gurugram makes about Rs. 60,000 a month and the way she manages it is a reality check for most of us. We were talking casually the other day and she told me she manages work across 5 to 6 homes every single day with 3-4 fixed leaves a month.”
“Out of that income, she puts her daughter in a good private school, manages her daily expenses, pays Rs. 10,000 in rent excluding utilities and is steadily paying off an EMI for a piece of land worth Rs. 6 lakhs back home. What struck me most wasn’t just the math, but where that money actually goes. What you don’t spend is what you save. That’s her simple logic. Her entire life runs strictly on necessities. She has no personal aspirations for herself. Except ensuring a secure, stable future for her daughter. And the only EMI she pays is toward an appreciating asset and a real long-term safety net. Contrast that with most of us,” he writes further.

“We take on massive EMIs for depreciating assets. Gadgets, cars, lifestyle upgrades, often just to gain societal acceptance or keep up appearances. We read personal finance books, download budgeting apps and still find ways to leak money despite having comfortable corporate safety nets,” he wrote.
“She has zero corporate safety nets, employee benefits or insurance, zero room for error and no spreadsheets to keep an organized check on her finances. Just extreme clarity on what actually matters, and showing up every single morning before 7 AM to make it happen. Really made me pause and rethink what real financial discipline looks like in everyday life,” he explains further.
