The EPFO portal was under maintenance for the migration or upgrade purpose. Now the EPFO has revamped its portal, but there are few changes that EPFO members need to know.
The revised portal is meant to give users a quicker, more dependable and more secure experience, according to reports. However, certain commonly used services, such as UAN activation and new UAN generation, are no longer accessible on the EPFO website. These services have been relocated to the government’s UMANG app and now need Face Authentication using Aadhaar.
While several services associated with the portal continue to be accessible, onboarding services related to UAN have been relocated to the UMANG app. The measure seeks to improve the security of member services by bolstering identity verification using face authentication based on Aadhaar, as reports state further.
The EPFO has also stopped giving out new UANs via the site. Users who desire a new UAN must activate and allocate the UAN under UAN Services Through Face Authentication on the UMANG app and then go through the Aadhaar-based Face Authentication procedure.
